SEME NATIONAL CONGRESS OF AESTHETIC MEDICINE

During my participation as a speaker at the 38th SEME National Congress, the “National Congress of the Spanish Society of Aesthetic Medicine”, held in Málaga, Spain, from 23 to 25 February 2023, I was able to learn from Doctor Nabil Fakih's talk about the benefits of rheology when choosing filler materials in hybrid treatments.

Essentially, rheology is a key characteristic to bear in mind when choosing a filler material for aesthetic treatments. Rheology refers to the ability of a material to flow and deform under an external
force. In simpler terms, rheology is the ability of a material to adapt to different conditions of use.

In the context of hybrid treatments, rheology is particularly important because these treatments combine different filling techniques to achieve an optimal result. By choosing filler materials with different rheological properties, we can combine them to achieve a perfect balance between the elasticity, viscosity and resistance needed to obtain natural-looking, long-lasting results.

For example, to fill the lip area effectively, we need materials with high elasticity so that they adapt to the movement of the area, and with a suitable viscosity to prevent the material from migrating. In areas such as the cheeks, on the other hand, materials with greater resistance are needed to withstand the force of gravity.
